But, since I cannot use Premiere Pro in 228 (since it seems like the only up-to-date version is in the Mac Lab, and there are class in there for the rest of the day, I suddenly thought "hey, why not do my blog?" So, this is how this paragraph is being written.
Huzzah!
The Legend of Media Culture
With the deadline of assignment 1 looming, I dedicated the last half of the break to getting this assignment done. After all, Media Culture is one of the papers that must be passed in order to graduate, making it a pretty big deal.
Out of the Animation section, which is dedicated for Animation students, because we have the coolest club in da blockmeister, I decided to recreate an animation/gaming poster by mixing genres and stylistic intent.
The poster I chose was a game poster, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time:

The original poster I planned to remake
For the first genre, I decided an easy one would be western, and I decided to go for a Disney style.
An old west genre, Disney style
I love how Epona (the horse) came out especially. I looked up some female Disney horses as a basic reference.
Link I dressed up as a cowboy, obviously, it was a western, after all!
I placed the iconic old west plateaus in the background, and planted cuddly cacti around the place. I replaced Castle Town with an old west town, complete with a saloon and hotel. The ranch I had redesigned into something more fitting of the landscape.

Next, came the supernatural/horror type of genre.
The friendliest place on earth
I took Death Mountain from the future in the game Ocarina of Time, with it's lovely fiery cloud, set Epona on fire, turned Link into a Garo (from Majora's Mask), and gave him a scythe.
The landscape blossoms with the fragrant scent of the dead.
And Castle Town now has a kind of nightmare castle with a tower and a glowing eye which may be referential (although originally unintentionally) of the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings.

For the last...
The Galaxy? Safe? Screw you, Universe!
Since the Master Sword is an iconic item in the Legend of Zelda series, a sci-fi genre could easily make you re-imagine the sacred blade as a light sabre.
To add to the genre-re-enforcement, there is a planet in the sky. Sorta like how Earth has one, only bigger and closer.
Also, a sort of future city where Castle Town was.
And Epona the horse is replaced with the EPONA MKII, a hover bike, of which Link is hanging onto for dear life.
Did I mention this style is more anime? :P

After these, was my favourite part of the assignment: writing an essay.
Okay, that last sentence was a lie. The Master Sword may be the blade of evil's bane, but essays are my bane.
I need more fire.
Research: A Boring Title
Because seriously, "Research" does not make for a dramatic heading.
With the impacts of family deaths (as is the current tradition), headway on my research has been somewhat stunted in a lot of ways while trying to get my own head around a current fragile emotion base. While the constant barrage of death after death has become somewhat numbing on the inside, I still feel it inside me whenever I hear that someone else has died.
After 2015 death numbers two and three (which were four days apart), it took a serious hit with me - I literally skipped some classes just so I could come to grips with reality (which sucks butt - screw you, Universe!)
At the last possible moment, with a much-needed conversation with Sarah, I was able to come up with a research plan and method which matches what I was trying to discover - after all, I had so much difficult trying to find similar studies prior, which was increasingly disheartening. I had to wonder if anyone had attempted my area of research at all - and if so, are they easy to find? I sure had trouble...
But to answer a question of why, regarding individual artists, it only seems logical that one asks them directly, rather than sifting through the web trying to find something you may never end up finding, or at least not enough. By questioning the fanartists, well... you get their direct reasonings behind mashing multiple fandoms.
This can be tallied up. And put into graphs. Beautiful, pretty graphs.
Of course, this conversation happened the night before the proposal was due. I was completely worn out. So I had made the decision to drop the literature review which is next to not started, and make sure I at least got a method out, as well as other things.
Because after all, attempted the literature review first? Best case I hand in an unfinished lit review by 5pm.
Attempt the other aspects by dropping the lit review for the time being and doing it later? I actually hand in what I plan to do and give a basic idea of how I would approach it.
So. Obviously the latter made a lot more sense, given the extreme time constraints. And I got most of the other stuff done, too, from what I can figure. So that is something.
Sketchy Things~
With the grief mentioned above, I had skipped one Drawing Class. Apparently, that day, there was a video to watch and apparently there were easter eggs.
Crap.
Anyway, while lots of things continued to happen (did I mention someone else died this week? That takes the grand total to four loved ones this year alone, wheeee!), I wasn't able to manage getting 3x A2 sized drawings out for evaluation, instead I only managed 3x A3.
But luckily that was fine, because it meant I actually did do work, regardless of whether or not I could manage full expectations or not.
Sexy Cinema~
Regarding the Admit One film editing, I realised after a test render that somehow my settings set itself to pumping out a 1920x1080 ratio while the footage size remained much smaller, big screen stuff requiring binoculars, as it were.
Fixed that, because otherwise it would be hilariously bad~
I also have added audio, but I am not sure if I did something bad or not... we aren't supposed to use other music from elsewhere without permission, however nothing had been said about the content of the Fresh Music Library, where I pulled some stuff from to make it more amusing.
I still have yet to change the credits, since I added the fake credits before Patrick or Treat actually gave them to us, so that has not yet been updated.
I also want to play with the audio a bit more, and I dedicated time between classes yesterday in order to do so, only to find the computer I was at in 228 did not seem to have an up to date version of Premiere Pro, so my file would not open.
While using the Mac Lab was then the obvious thing to do, the timetable was not my friend, and there were classes in there for the rest of the day... and the timetable for today (Friday) showed a STAR class in there for the entire day until 3pm, which is when it is due.
Wow. Thanks, Universe, I see you are still not done screwing with me. Surprised I haven't been impregnated with your demon babies, yet.
Today's plan... well, come in at lunchtime, and hope I can use an available mac. I will have a window of just under an hour to update everything and render my file out, which is probably going to be in reality more of a pain in the butt than it sounds.
Because, y'know, Universe.
Later, bitches.
